Visit Therapy

The world has changed a great deal in recent years, and although we are thankfully moving forward in our fight against Covid, it has left many with a feeling of anxiety.

If for you, the thought of being away from your home is a daunting prospect, it does not need to be the reason you are unable to have face to face counselling.

It may be that you are unable to leave your home, due to your physical health or caused by conditions such as agoraphobia. Whatever the barrier may be, I am able to remove this.

Visit Therapy is also called home-based counselling, and it takes place in your home, rather than my office. It is usually provided in the heart of the home, for instance around the kitchen table or in a living room.

In these settings, children and teenagers may feel more comfortable. The ability to see a home environment and observe how people use their space can help me build good connections quickly. This personalised approach may not be as easy to achieve in an office.

Counsellors are one of several professionals that offer home-based therapy.

A range of approaches which may be used in a home-based session, include individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy, young person’s play, and help for families with young adults who are using unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with the pressure of everyday life.

If you think home-based therapy is right for you, contact me and we can discuss how to proceed. Choosing when and how often in-home therapy sessions will occur depends on what works for you. Home-based therapy can be used occasionally, as a supplement to office sessions, or as your main approach.
